Sacramento man charged with homicide in apartment complex killing

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man has been arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail in connection to the death of a man at an apartment complex, The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.

27-year-old Christian Pedraza, pictured with cuts on his neck in a booking photo, was arrested on April 14, 2021, Sheriff officials said.

Pedraza is suspected of killing 49-year-old Raymond David Alvarez at an apartment complex on the 9500 block of Folsom Boulevard. Investigators found the victim “obviously deceased” with severe trauma.

“At approximately 8:27 p.m. on Tuesday April 13, 2021, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call from a multi-residential complex on the 9500 block of Folsom Boulevard in the County of Sacramento.” a press release read. “The caller stated they could hear screaming and a physical disturbance in a neighboring unit.”

Following the discovery of the victim, the statement said “Additional arriving deputies saw a subject of interest leaving the area in close proximity to their arrival, set a perimeter, [and] detained the person without incident.”

Pedraza was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail on homicide charges. Officials declined to disclose any further information.
