Man killed, others injured in Old North Sacramento shooting

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Three people, including a teenager, were shot late Friday evening in Old North Sacramento. One man died on scene, and a homicide investigation is underway, authorities say.

Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 2000 block of Del Paso Boulevard in Old North Sacramento, an area that struggles with high crime rates and gang activity. Upon arrival, officers discovered two adult male victims and one 17-year-old with gunshot wounds.

One of the men suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds and was declared dead on the scene. Personnel with the Sacramento Fire Department transported the two additional males to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Homicide Detectives and CSI agents have began a homicide investigation into the incident. Authorities characterized the shooting as an “isolated incident” and will be canvassing the area for evidence and possible witnesses.

The Sacramento County Coroner will release the identity of the deceased man once his family is notified.

The Sacramento Police Department encourages anyone who may have information related to the incident to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Callers will remain anonymous.

The unknown suspect(s) in the attack, who fled before police arrived, is currently at large.
