1 Killed in Apartment Fire in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — One person was killed in a two-alarm apartment fire in Sacramento on Wednesday, according to the Fire Department.

The fire occurred at a complex in the 3500 block of Summer Park Drive in Natomas. The flames damaged a unit on the second floor, as well as the apartment beneath it. The body was found after the fire was extinguished.

The fire has since been extinguished, with the cause still under investigation. Citizens were previously reporting sightings of helicopters in Natomas unrelated to the fire.

Apartment fires can be caused by a number of factors, including cooking mishaps, smoking, and electrical malfunctions.

The cause of the fire hasn’t yet been determined.
